Egges Mortus...

Monday, September 18. Cool, light rain, wind, clearing.

Eggus mortus in the phonetic pronunciation of the old French town we are in today.

We departed Saint Gilles around 10:30 and had a somewhat uneventful ride most of the way. There was a bit of a sprinkle and was always cloudy but the wind was the main issue, for me as it affects the steering immensely. I was at the helm most of the way and then Alyssa took over when Dave and I went down for a bite to eat. Only then did I realize how chilled I had gotten..

We putted into this town and Dave did the fancy manoeuvre of backing this darn thing into a mooring right in the centre of the touristy area of this medieval town. Somebody collected our tariff for the night, about $60.00 Canadian. That gives us power and shower facilities if we wish to utilize.

We shortly afterward started the short trek to the main attraction here: a walled medieval town with its massive tower. The town inside is a delight to stroll in and one can only imagine what it was like in the 11th century before the canal even existed.

I will not spend a lot of time writing about our day but I will try and show it in pictures.

Please forgive any spelling or grammar errors as this is done in less than ideal conditions. The internet is also a bit iffy and sending pictures are a problem.

Jim and Gail are aboard the ship that will take them to America in 30 days and brother Graham and Janet are in Rome today, also on a cruise.

Good day today!
