Monday, May 1. Docked in the Port for Cork. Cloudy sky, 15 C. A slight breeze breeze.
Home in 11 days.
We are docked in an inlet in a lovely old Port that reeks of seafaring history, straight out of a thousand seafaring novels. Prominent among the Buildings is The White Star Line Building, not far from where our ship is docked.
The Titanic, a White Star Ship, built in Belfast, Ireland, anchored off shore from here on April 11, 1912. It sailed that night and sunk four days later: April 15, 1912. Survivors and bodies from The Lusitania in 1915 were brought ashore here as well.
Our day was easy for us. Fellette’s cold is coming along nicely. Mine is another case. This is getting ridiculous, I have had this cold for seven full days. I have been taking medication for it but the symptoms are about the same as when it started. As of this morning I stopped takin all my over-the-counter stuff and am going to let it run its course, unaided. The stomach issues I have had will, hopefully go away and all I will have is the remains of a cold!
Sailing in the direction of home tonight!
We Had A Good Day, Considering…
Sailing in this morning.
It says it all.
Getting organized.
Sea Side garden in the centre of town. Kids and Mums.
Ice cream of course.
Can you hear the Irish? Note the name of the building!
Titanic Trail: Lusitania plaque.
You cannot see the name likely but the white building is a White Star Building. I doubt the original.
Monument to The Lusitania sinking. The Irish mourn well.
Here are the Kids and Mums and Dads.
Young Men’s Society Hall.
Cunard Building.
Time for Tea!
