Monday February 18. In Hong Kong, [9:04 PM. 5:04 AM your time in Vancouver.]
14 hours is a v-e-r-y long time in an airplane, the longest we have had I believe. The fact that we could lay flat and sleep certainly makes it less of a hardship though. Glad we sold that car to pay for it!
We flew on a Hong Kong based airline called Cathay Pacific. The facilities and service were very spacious and quiet, the staff was beyond reproach. In our cabin, the captain was white, the cabin staff, all from Hong Kong, were Chinese and one Indian. It seems that Cathay Pacific must have a bit of prejudice in hiring their females as all would fit the description of ‘China Doll’. However their interaction with me was restrained, almost humble, or better, reserved.
They served lunch shortly after take off, [around 3:00 PM], dinner was served about two hours before landing, at 5:00 PM, Hong Kong time. That is a bit more than eight hours between lunch and dinner. Of course you could order numerous bits of snacks any time you wanted. [No breakfast.]
I will not try and explain the time difference.
Another interesting thing was that there was no darkness the whole 14 hour trip, except the last hour or so, it was bright blue sunny skies at over 30,000 it seems. They closed the window shield and many people, including me, went to sleep, about five hours early! But I only napped.
We are in the hotel now, having a quick shower and off to sleep again, although we catnapped the last 11 hours. Travel is tiring.
By the way I declined the breakfast at the hotel tomorrow morning, $95.00 C$ for two.
A bit of Chinese for lunch yesterday in the lounge.
Fellette in Holiday Mode.
My one drink and some fruit and cheese yesterday.
One movie and a lot of looking and playing with the interactive map on the flight. Fellette watched two movies.
