Auckland Tomorrow Morning...

Wednesday, February 1. Day 29 of the cruise, [only 99 to go!] 22 C. Cloudy skies, heavy rain in the night.

We took the day off and did not go to work! For some unknown reason my cold came back overnight so I medicated myself and could not get out of bed this morning. After a single cup of coffee and a bit of fruit in tumbled back into bed and nodded off. Eventually I came to life and we dressed for breakfast. One of the options we have for breakfast is to go to a Restaurant called The Pinnacle Grill. So, there we went. We spent over an hour with a hot egg and sausage meal. Fellette had Eggs Benedict, [my dear sister’s favourite], while conversing with our adjoining cabin neighbour's at an adjacent table. It was lovely, all the time in the world! Maybe we should do that more often.

The day unfolded in a similar manner. We skipped our stretches and walk, as again, it was Jack London weather outside, fog most of the day, [I actually had long pants and a light sweater on first thing in the morning when I finally got up.]

Auckland tomorrow. Things don’t look too bright for us tomorrow as the whole area around the northern tip of the North Island of New Zealand got a three inch dump of rain yesterday and complicated the situation from a four inch dump a few days before. It would be crass of us to complain of the weather spoiling our day in their city when they are having a very serious weather problem, although it is a bit disappointing, such is travel.

Apparently we had a bit of a dusting of snow at home. On the good news front, son Wally reports that according to his electronic tracking of two small shipments that he and Jeanette arranged to send me, both packages are in the same portion of the Port Agent’s office for Holland America in Auckland. If the rest of the operation goes as smooth as the shipping of the packages, I should be getting the Credit Card we misplaced the day we left at home and  a supply of socks that I forgot to pack sometime tomorrow. Jim will all get the pair of socks back that he so kindly lent me about 26 days ago!

As I finish writing this blog and look outside, I see that the fog has lifted and the sun is really trying to break through the heavy cloud cover and some blue sky is showing.

Tomorrow, both the Cutler’s and Fellette and I have a bit of domestic shopping to do, in particular for us, a major resupply of Hall’s Cough Tablets and a few items of simple clothing. Looking forward to being in a First World Country for a while, before we get to The Wild’s of Australia! [That is a joke to my few friends from OZ]

A Very Different Sort Of Day, Refreshing…

Isn’t that a smart looking dessert? That is what you get when you ask for a cheese plate instead of  one of their more decadent selections.

You can see  where we have run off the map on the left side.

And here we are creeping toward New Zealand on the right hand side. [See red felt pen marker.]

And, the map as will be the rest of the trip on our wall.
