Amelia Earhart is alive and well...

...and serving as a stewardess on Air Canada between Vancouver and Toronto!

Grandmothers should not be working on airlines. Grey hair in a bun behind their head, and that stern look, just does not cut it. We paid for happy, perky young healthy looking people and that is what we want! It was more like having a school Hall Monitor than a cabin attendant.

Yesterday could have been a better day. Our driver was due at eight in the evening, so we had an easy day. Light food, showers, relaxing pace, etc., etc. However in the few hours before eight it became a bit hectic. My sister phoned and wanted to once again go over what papers she MUST have on her person. Our daughter then phoned and as a result of that call we had to arrange airline tickets and accommodation for later in the year. A bit of a sweat, but taken in stride.

At ten after eight I phoned the cab company to find out where our diver was. He was lost somewhere in south Langley. I stayed on the phone with him until he arrived at our home 1/2 hour late.

The actual flight was fine, however, in spite of all the hype about your own 'personal TV screen' when I wanted to see the 'map' on the screen, that was 'not available', neither was the news. So I went to 'comedy', but shut that off after four bloody commercials!!! I tried to sleep.

Our serving staff enroute seemed to be sort of ghosts, hardly visible. A drink and snack arrived about the time we crossed the Rockies. [On British Airways or Qantas, they are asking if we want another champagne and we are still on the tarmac in Vancouver!]

TORONTO! Do not go there. It took us two hours to get through the red tape. I do think that US immigration really do not want anybody except Americans coming into their country. Pity a family of Asians that speak little English! Photographs, fingerprints, question galore, the works. Welcome to America! What a zoo. [The weather in Toronto was clear and cold. -17 C.]

The flight to Fort Lauderdale was uneventful except we could not stay awake. Upon arrival we were short one bag! Guess what was in it? ALL of my computer and digital camera and video camera cables and associated important stuff. [Murphy's Law].

No worries we made out the missing luggage forms and got to our hotel in short order. [In a 20 foot limo thank you!]

We get to our hotel room for the night and there in front of us is the 'second best bed in the world", seven pillows, plus, guess what?, 'free' internet! But guess what, my computer is broken! Three hours later after several calls for tech support from Craig and the cab ride from hell, we have the problem resolved. [That story is too long to tell.]

Now there is time to think about my sister Moe, who is seven hours behind us. She also has had to go through the internment camp in Toronto called US Immigration with only 1 1/2 hours between flights. Impossible, those guys need their coffee breaks and pee breaks. Never mind the poor silent hordes of travellers waiting in the line for hours! With kids on their hips, they could be suicide bombers in disguise!

With my computer now back in service I can check Moe's flight from Toronto and get some good news, it got away 1 1/2 hours late. That means she will likely be on it, as a matter of fact it might have been late because of her and others that got delayed by over-zealous immigration officials

Fortunately for readers of the blog, Fellette and I do not complain on travel days otherwise I could get nasty. [Do you detect a note of sarcasm in there?]

PS We got a call from Air Canada at the hotel, our bag has arrived, it will be delivered to us sometime tonight. Good, it has our PJs and tooth brushes in it!

PPS The bag arrived around 10 at night, safe and sound!

PPPS Moe arrived, late. Her pick-up vehicle was bigger than ours, a 54 passenger bus with Moe as the only passenger! We look forward to comparing travel days with her later on board! All is well that ends well. Thank you Lord.
