By now most of the passengers are feeling a bit more comfortable. As I mentioned earlier it may seem odd but many of us took some time to begin to feel at ease with life aboard. There was no 'routine' in our lives. I for one felt a lot of uncertainty about just about everything.
Those feelings for the most part have disappeared for most of us. A bit of a pattern has taken shape, and for lack of anything more exciting to write about I will give a bit of an idea how the last two days have sorted themselves out for us.
We order coffee for around 6:00 AM. I pour it for both of us, same as at home.
I go outside and have a sip or two, and check for submarines while Fellette comes to life and writes her journal.
I lay out a beach towel and do some stretches and exercises on the balcony.
I then phone Moe who may be out walking on the deck.
I usually boot up the computer and check the mail.
Have a second cup of coffee while reading the schedule for the day to see what is of interest.
Get dressed, shorts and Tee-shirt for both of us.
Up on the deck for breakfast. [Oatmeal, grapefruit, one bread, and water]. We do vary from this slightly, we eat a more hearty breakfast on port days.
Down to a keep-fit class for 1/2 hour, which is mostly stretches, flexibility and balance stuff, no aerobics.
Walk the deck for 20 minutes which is a bit over a mile then I go to Tai Chi, Fellette goes to bible study. [9:00 AM now]
Around 10:00 I go to the cabin and work on computer or pictures. Fellette catches the end of a "talk' and has coffee.
At 11:00 every morning there is generally a very interesting speaker. Yesterday it was about Elizabeth Taylor [choke], today it was an excellent speaker from Vancouver who is giving a series of talks on our solar system and astronomy.
Lunch on deck around 12 to 1. Usually a small group of friends congregate there and have a variety of subjects discussed.
2:30 Fellette has crafts. Doug will read, go to the gym or have a nap.
Dance class is at 3:00, as of yet nothing has caught our fancy.
Somewhere we get cleaned up for dinner or entertaining. [4:15, Fellette sometimes has choir practice.]
5:00 we often have people in for a pre-dinner drink
5:45 Dinner in the dining room or up top in a less formal setting.
7:30-7:45, leave the dining room and go to the 8.00 show. [Comedian, production, instrumentalist etc].
9-10 to bed.
Things happen. I gave a lady a computer lesson between 10 and 11 today. Fellette had a scrabble meeting after lunch.
It may not be very exciting, but it sure is relaxing. Sea days are a great relief after one or two port days in succession.
