Food is not an issue...

...but not overindulging is a big issue. A reader of the blog indicated that they had never been on a cruise and found the pictures that were posted of the interior of the ship very interesting. I thought that if that was the case, then perhaps seeing what temptations we have to resist may also be of interest, so these shots were taken 10 minutes before the noon buffet shut down today.

For cruisers, this will bring back fond memories of the massive choices that face us every day. For anybody who has not cruised it may seem excessive, which it is. The printed menu and food in the dining room, three times a day is also a bit over the top compared to our regular at-home diet. The midnight buffet however seems to have disappeared from most ships. It has been replaced by 24 hour room service, free.

There are some die-hard exercise and fitness devotees that will burn off the calories on a ship, but most people seem to slow down their level of activity and eat more of things that are not good for us on a cruise. The end result can be that proverbial 'pound a day' that you often hear about.

So, for old times sake, or a glimpse of a food buffet here are some shots. Mind you I did not show the meat courses and vegetables that were also available. And this was for LUNCH!
