Back in Paradise...

Thursday, January 14. Warm, no, hot! 29C. [84F]

A long day but it was worth it. There is nothing bad that happened today of course, but somehow the number of unfamiliar things happening, in a hurry, on a travel day can bring up some mild frustration. Many years ago Fellette and I agreed never to get annoyed on a travel day. This was after we saw a young couple have a spat on a flight to Maui. Anyhow, who has sympathy for some minor glitch on somebody going on a vacation?

Up at 5:00 this morning, not too far off our usual really, out the door at 6:15, back home at 6:17 looking for the 'Maui Folder'. It had slipped into the back seat as we loaded! The trip for the 30 mile run to the airport was fine, just slow. Check in, baggage, then the security, then the US immigration for pre-clearance then to the gate. We loaded in a civilized manor and then presto-magico we are in Paradise. Somehow, taking your shoes and belt off in front of 220 strangers can be a little upsetting, and don't ask if you forget about a key or pen in your pocket! You are treated like a serial killer trying to slip aboard. Some bra hardware can be a bit embarrassing as well.

We got to the car rental place, without incident, next was the groceries where we dropped $164.00 U$ for a few days supply of food, then zipped to the condo and checked in, unloaded, and had supper on the boil in jig time and all is well with the world. How could it be otherwise here?

We have been coming to Kihei for 45 years and it is like coming home. This is not an Adventure Vacation, not like looking for Lemur in Madagascar, or hiking Kilimanjaro, that was then and this is now.  Walks, swimming early morning, naps and good talks and some tasty meals, with some sun time.

Fellette is preparing a steak dinner, with a small potato, onion and salad, I am sitting here, [connected to the internet in 30 seconds], doing a bit of a blog with a glass of winehappy as a clam.

Good day.

Tomorrow, who knows?

At the airport, the usual photo of our Indian Carving.

Sticker shock on food.

First item in the cart: Kim Chee and onions!

Welcome to Maui Hill!

Fruit from the Manager, always welcome.

The outlook from the deck, no time for exploring today.
