A neighbour lady required some macho help taking down her lights so Jim and I did that for her. It took about 15 minutes max. Next was lunch, composed of home made turkey soup and Sweet Potato Pie from a neighbour. In spite of seeing the movie "The Help" I ate it and it was delicious!
Next was a trip to Costco. My gosh it was an absolute zoo there, first was the gas fill-up then an exchange/refund of an ill fitting Christmas gift then a few items on their Costco list. I really have never seen such a crowd in a Costco store, the lines weaved their way back through the merchandise aisles. In spite of this the customers were very patient, which I was pleased to see.
Back home to install some LED lights in the kitchen. This was partially successful because of two plug-in sockets instead of screw-in sockets. Six out of eight was not bad, the other two will wait for another day.
Wee Douggie needed a bit of a nap while the other three had a game of Rubbiecubes. (Not sure on spelling). We four then got dressed up and out for an Italian dinner at a nearby Restaurant. It was about a 25 minute drive, quiet traditional Italian restaurant, nice ambience and a delightful evening.
Editors comment for today...
The Coming in of a new year seems to be, in our mind at least, a clean slate ahead with usually high expectations of good things ahead, in particular the coming of spring even though winter has barely started. Such is the human spirit.
Today we bought some LED bulbs. The expected life is 22 years under certain usage conditions. 22 years from now it is somewhat unlikely that any of us will be alive. Yet looking back 22 years it was 1993. Gadzooks, that seems like yesterday folks.
I have often used the saying "You never know when you have had your last roast beef dinner". That can go for anybody, I agree. But as we get older it starts to hit home: last World Cruise, last new car, last home I will live in, etc., etc. One day it will be the last sleep, the last TV show and so on. The foregoing is just food for thought, so folks, no more cheap wine and use that new underwear that you have tucked away and darn it, use the good China and crystal!!!
'The Players'. Gail, Fellette and Jim are avid players of games and puzzles, (names in descending order of fanaticism!)
Fellette at the Cutlers tree, which is on a slowly revolving mechanism. I need one of those!
