Morning Report, I will do one after we come back from the village.

Saturday, March 29. Beautiful, clear skies, slight wind F 78?

"Good Morning!' 'said a strange voice through the tent at 4.55 this morning. We went down for a quick tea/coffee at the dining room, in pitch darkness, [see picture of moon], and into the Land Rover, bundled up in fleecy ponchos; we were off  on an early morning drive to the large park some 1/2 hour's drive from our lodge.

In the short time we were there, [maybe 3 1/2 hours], we three took a total of 268 pictures, many of course no good, but that gives you an indication of our excitement. We were joined in the van by a very pregnant, [31 weeks] South African couple who seemed to have keener eyes than our young British guide!

The game is not as nearly abundant as many lodges we have been to and the vegetation varies from light scrub forest, to open rolling hills, to scant cover shrubs and trees. Not really any open grassland on this side of the park so the antelope population does not hang out in droves like Kenya etc. Also elephant are elusive, and the lions, which there are 200 of in the park were not seen today. And of course the elusive leopard is as scarce as ever. It was truly an exciting morning for us and the SA couple were pleasant to be with and quite a change from the Amsterdamians we have been conversing with for three months.

We were back to the camp around 10.15 and Fellette and I had the biggest breakfast we have had in three months. Back to the tent where I zonked out for a sold two hours, had a very invigorating outdoor shower and am refreshed and ready to go out this afternoon to a Zulu Cultural Village thing.

We saw 12 white rhino, of the 2000 in the park, elephant, buffalo, impala, nyala, giraffe and zebra, to name a few. Delightful.

Must go now, off in a few minutes for this afternoon's activity.
