It has been six years since we were last here and I forgot how wonderful it is; it is clean, orderly, the language is English, the money is simple, there is NO litter or graffiti It is almost a model city from a tourist's point of view. The Subway, MRT is a marvel of efficiency and the people are all civil, clean, quite, polite and helpful. Two or three times today we were helped by people out of the blue who could tell we were lost.
The only thing I could find wrong today was that with all three maps we had, we still had difficulty in knowing where we were: one was a street map, one was a MRT map and one was a tourist river map all oriented differently.
My feet are tired again, [wrong insoles], so I am just going to show you our day in pictures in this wonderful city.
Today's nautical term:
Pipe Down. It means stop talking. The Pipe Down was the last signal from the Bosun's pipe each day which means 'lights out' and 'silence'.
Pics:
Rather self-explanatory: we walked, after getting to the appropriate area by Subway. Many Muslims are here and remnants of the British system, that is why the city is so organized.
We had dinner on the river and then took a boat ride, getting off at The Fullerton Hotel, [which is amazing], and going to the Asian Civilizations Museum. Interesting indeed.
The buildings, old and new are outstanding and the absence of cars makes the city a pleasure to be in.
At the end of the day we were all ready to get back on board, shower, have dinner and watch the light show in the city from our balcony. Good day.
