Day 103 of 113, [11 more sleeps.]
Clocks went back last night, we are now only two hours ahead of Fort Lauderdale time, five ahead of Langley time.
* * *
Fellette's cough seems to have gone, or just about. We had breakfast and lunch upstairs and we are going to the dinner table for the first time in four days.
The fantastic weather that we have had for over three months has spoiled us. This gray overcast I assume is just a sampling of what we have in store for us in BC, but what better time to have it then five days at sea as we cross the seemingly Gray Atlantic. However it is still pleasant on our balcony, it would just be nicer with blue skies above us!
After an intelligent breakfast [that is a term I recently became aware of] we took a few turns around the deck before Fellette started to pack a bit. Not serious packing, but putting some stuff into cases and getting it sorted in her mind as to what goes where. She later had her hair trimmed and then took in a lecture before lunch, she is obviously feeling better.
After lunch, there was the Indonesian Crew Show which was great. All these talented young people that have such a heavy work load can somehow put together a wonderful show with such energy it takes us back to our more youthful days. After almost four months, one cannot help but become somewhat attached to the ones who we come in contact with on a daily basis: our table stewards, Uchi and Tri, our cabins stewards, Rudi and Asap [we have two they work in pairs], and last but not least, the young man who brings us our tea and coffee around 5.30 in the morning, Jack. The names I cannot vouch are their true names. However, one has to be careful to keep things in perspective, they are there to look after us, not be our adopted children. Sometimes it does seem to get a little too close for me on the ship with some of the crew and passengers, but, both are missing their family, especially the crew.
There is not a lot going on at the moment onboard and we sort of have to entertain ourselves, something that I have gotten rather good at the last while.
I wish I had more to report, but it is what it is!
Pics.
- Last night waiting for dinner on the balcony as we sailed from Cape Verde.
- Early this morning in bed, the hat makes one feel better!

- The Monkey Dance, with a modern twist.
Doug,
ReplyDeleteI have loved reading your blog and enjoyed the pictures as well! I haven't missed out on a single one (sometimes I played catch-up.) You are an excellent writer! Besides reading about the amazing journey, I love your philosophizing about people and life. You about had me in tears over the teddy bear story; then to see pictures of you & Moe as toddlers with your Teddy! I still have a lump in my throat. I know it has taken much time, patience & effort to keep this blog up. I, as one of the recipients want to say thank you! Regards, Sherie Davidson
