Beautiful Maui...

Tuesday, January 13. Partly cloudy. 23 C.

We both slept well. Fellette has turned the corner and the pain level is positively diminishing. We were awoken by a gentle rap on the door with morning coffee by a young man called Awan, at 5:30, as requested delivering the coffee.

We were on the deck shortly after in house coats watching the ship  slide by the entry pylons that guide the ships into the Kahului Harbour. At 10:00 we were picked up by Graham's Daughter Niki, who drove us to the a drug store where we picked up enough pills to get us to Australia on February 6.

It was great to be with Niki and Chris. First it was nice to talk to someone who we could talk about something of substance rather than the meaningless words that we use to just-met-strangers. Their backyard is the beach front, back some distance and their home is raised up nicely. It is the kind of place that you can imagine someone writing The Great Canadian Novel, to the sound of the surf in bare feet and shorts.

Niki treated us to Thai Food at a quaintsy Food Truck, out the track away. Chris is a bit of an adventurer and he wanted to get some time on the water before the wind dropped, as it was scheduled to do, in a couple of hours.

Chris got suited up in his water-tight suit and then got his hand-held sail, plus his very small surfboard that has a shaft attached at the bottom. He then gets it all into the water/surf and catches the wind and gets it under control then floats like a Water Skeeter fast as the devil. His surfboard actually lifts up above the water about 3 feet. It must be a wonderful feeling to accomplish that. Chris is an accomplished sailor as well, having sailed across the Atlantic, ending up in the Caribbean with a small crew.

Niki is also a very busy and athletic minded lady. An avid tennis player playing regularly here and when at home. She is off to Melbourne, Australia on Saturday with a friend to 'The Australian Open', as spectators.

It was a wonderful day for us, Fantastic actually! Thank you Niki and Chris!

The internet is acting absolutely crazy today, insane! The pictures are absolutely out of order and it would take forever to get it sorted and I am not in the mood!

Chris is out and flying around like a Water Skeeter

Here he is with all his gear heading for the water.

Picking up lunch at the Thai Food Truck.

Niki in the shade at the Thai place.

Chris, Niki and Fellette on their Lanai. Their back lawn is grass, leading to the water.

Docked at Pier One in Kahului.

My young bride, in Convalescent mode this morning.
