Friday, January 6. At sea, Costa Rica tomorrow morning.
I am still trying to get things right so I am sending two posts today, hopefully, this is the first one.
This morning we were all sort of confined in our cabins doing a Rapid Covid Test. This is I suppose to find out how much Covid is on the ship. And then what? By the way, tested negative. I also got a Credit Card situation resolved today, on board the ship at least, I still have to contact the Bank next time we are in phone range.
This is really our first sea day as we are still trying to catch up with the highly complicated and compromised boarding day when we should have got organized: but didn't! We are hoping that this is the day that our long-awaited holiday actually starts!
I am surprised by the number of handicapped and otherwise physically unfit people on the ship, WOW. It makes any issues I/we may have seem trivial. However it does not take away the aches, pains and other issues that we all get as we age. Elderly is relative to the observer I find. I moan and groan and have issues that are not obvious when I am sitting down or standing for example, but I do not go up or down the stairs as fast, or easily as I did before. And I have to force myself to walk fast, which I hope to do in the coming months. Food on the ship can be an issue for sure. Weight gain being the problem and drinking as well.
For your information, this is certainly not the real world. I forgot what life aboard a cruise ship was like: spoiled, tempted to over eat, too much drink, tempted not to get enough exercise and get caught up in the urge to take advantage of all the activities at our finger tips. I/we hope to sit back and smell the roses a bit. We will see how that works for us!
OK Day...
Covid test time.
Our table. We are have to find a way not to sit at this table every night without insulting these widowed sisters, fun as they may be.
