Sunday, January 11. Mostly cloudy. 25 C.
Years and years ago when I was doing my time in the Reserve Army they had a term for those people that needed to see the doctor so they could be fixed or excused from duty. The general term was The Sick, the Lame and the Lazy. That is who we have on board on this very nice Sunday in Honolulu. Fellette would be classified as Sick or Lame, me, I am just feeling Lazy because my partner is sick.
We make the short journey to Kona in less than 8 hours tonight at moderate speed. It is a Tender Port, which means we disembark this ship and step onto the lifeboats that they lower and we then make the short journey to the wharf or jetty and bingo, we are ashore.
Unfortunately Fellette is a bit concerned about the tender thing, so am I. Right now Fellette is not good at fast movements. While Tendering you are often assisted on entering the lifeboat by two burly seamen who grab you on the arms and swoop you in. Normally in rough seas it is quite exciting! Not so for Fellette right now but you never know.
We will definitely get ashore in Maui the next day, we have to. Right now Fellette is going through 16 pills a day of two varieties. We have 30 days before we get to Cairns, Australia where we can get Brand Names or equivalent, the rest of the time we are in various Islands that do not have First World amenities. By the time we get to Cairns it will be almost 40 days since her accident and she may no longer even need pills. We live in hope!
Sorry, I never took a photo today, not in the mood.
I don't blame you guys if you take a break from this blog of mine for a few weeks as it must be rather discouraging reading all the glum news. But I hope not!
The good news is that Fellette feels that there is 'some reduction of the pain.' in the last few days!
We are are also looking forward to seeing Niki and maybe Chris, her husband for a few hours Tuesday. They are holidaying at their summer home near Paia in Maui. Niki is my Brother Graham's daughter.
Aloha
Continue healing, Fellette. The Halls send good wishes. xx
