Monday, February 20. How fortunate we are...

Calm seas, blue sky.   Water temperature 80 F, air 82 F.

Today was restful day at sea, at present we are four degrees south of the equator. That is about 400 miles or so north of our present position [I think], and then for the first time in about five weeks we will be in the Northern Hemisphere. We are also moving westward, approaching our Amazon adventure that everybody is rather excited about.

We had a late, lazy morning today, Fellette and I, we had a quiet breakfast in the Neptune Lounge, one floor below our cabin. The Lounge, as I have mentioned before is a small and intimate area that we have the use of for coffee, snacks, conversation, quiet TV and we often have a cold breakfast there.

As we prepared the table today, I mentioned to Fellette, again, how fortunate we are in so many regards. Here we sit, in a lovely dining room with no one else there, just like at home, able to talk about anything at all in peace and quiet. We had just left our luxurious suite that in itself is heaven to be in and is twice at least as big as most cabins on the ship.

We don't take this for granted by any means, but over the years we seem to have been able to take some lovely trips and each time they seem to be more expensive yet they do not put a hardship upon us. I don't know what we did right to put us in this position but I sometimes wonder 'why us?'    So much for that...

I will show some pictures of how our very decadent day went on this floating palace...

My bride and I having a healthy light breakfast

Risa is one of two full time attendants in the Neptune Lounge who can take on virtually all of our needs that we would have to go to the pursers office for.

I may have showed this beautiful sitting area before but is a lovely place to have a quiet coffee, conversation or some large screen TV time. There is an outside deck adjacent to this room.

This is the hallway that leads to our suite.

We had a tour of the Laundry Room this morning, this is the sheet ironer and folder, unbelievable to see it in use. It can do 175 sheets an hour.

The room is very hot and we were sweating after 15 minutes in the room. The workers work in that environment for 10 hours, with breaks of course, but 10 hours a day.

Guess what they did for us elderly kids today? We had an Afternoon Ice Cream Social!!!
