Thursday, February 9. Our day in the rain forest...

What else in the rain forest, but rain!

We were booked for the Ugauzu Falls All day excursion. That involved flying from Buenos Aires to the falls some 1 1/2 hours north. It is in the middle of a sub-tropical rain forest, so guess what, it rains here. Not too often, but it did today.

The logistics of getting there, [let alone with a group of 60, let alone with a group the medium age of around 70let alone with men who most seem to have some sort of trouble with needing a toilet very often], are daunting indeed.] the bigger the group and today, the older the group the longer it takes, to do anything.

However, is late at night after a long day and rather than try and describe our day with words I will give you our day, by a timeline and some photos.

I would not recommend this trip, even in good weather unless you are prepared to spend 15 to 16 hours to see the falls for 1 1/2 to 2 hours max, and spend the other 14 hours in transportation modes of some sort. The meal at the Sheraton was excellent, but too rushed.

Sort of happy we went, but we certainly have had better days and for far, far, far less money.

The best view is from the sanctuary of the Sheraton Hotel where we had dinner. Looks much like Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.

This walkway is 1200 meters long, seemed like a mile, it leapfrogs from mini islands, it is metal and a bit tricky to walk on. The previous walkway was completely washed away in 2004 in a flood. I do not know much about the origin of all the water except to say it is a heck of a lot of water.

Appearances are not the main consideration on the walkway, survival is.

Looked like rope, but it is a vine.
