Sunday, February 12. Pot Pouri today...

Sunny, a bit of sea movement.
Sunday at sea so that means 9.00 am church. We then had a lecture by a new speaker on the world's oceans. Excellent talk.

A hot dog for lunch even though we swore off meat after yesterday's meat overindulgence.

Fellette then had an appointment to have her nails done. Yup, this grandmother had her nails painted for the first time in over 3/4 of a century. It was at my encouragement that she did so as her nails have not been subject to work in over six weeks. I think that she feels a bit conspicuous but will get used to it.

I am getting a cold and Fellette advised later in the days that she is as well. No sympathy, we have had six weeks of no colds and we are living in a virtual petrie dish of germs on a ship. We have lots of medication to at least suppress the symptoms for the time being. My issue is that I seem to get a cold that ends with a cough that I end up pleading to die or get better. My stomach often ends up sore from coughing. Usually at night!!!

The weather has been a bit disappointing so far the last week, but today I got some sun on the balcony that was so hot that I could only take it for about three minutes before I could sense the burn.

We come into Rio de Janeiro the morning after tomorrow for a two day stay. This will be our third stop here in Rio, the first in 1999, and we are not really fans of a city of 10 zillion people where the very rich and the very poor seem to coexist in close proximity, and very visible.

We have a night Samba Show tour scheduled one night with Jim and Gail. Fellette and I may take in a walk in the park one day, not sure how our colds may be but at least it will be outside and alone. Jim and Gail are on a tour during the day that we may stick close to home, it depends upon on how Doug's 'Man Cold' is doing. Fellette seems to get a 'Ladie's Cold'. Do you think there is a difference, or is it all in the mind?

I sometimes wonder if anybody is reading this darn blog of mine and wonder how to find out. Maybe I should offer a monetary reward to the first five people that contact me. But I won't.

I think that some people would say: "My gosh, are they still on that darn ship?" I know that when our friends Rod and Lyn go on a long walkabout,  (Like 10 months!", I sometimes forget to check their blog for some time and when I remember I would say "How can they do that for so long?"

Yup, painted nails, a first since 1941. Beat  that!

  3. Well said Rod. Hope you and Lyn both okay. Well Doug, to answer your query on colds....They are only as bad as each person gets it and suffers accordingly. Now tell me that is not what you wanted to hear!!! Love you guys, Keith.
