Darn, another early morning. We were advised that there may be a great sunrise at a specific place at 4.30 this AM, so, like dummies, our sub-conscious alarm clock went off and Fellette checked: cloudy so back to bed. But, the damage was done and we were awake, so, soon, coffee and there you have it, we are up for the day.
I was up at 2.00 am to send yesterday's blog inasmuch as we were in a blank spot earlier in the evening.
I thought and we discussed, what could we see today that we did not see yesterday? Well, the balcony drapes were pulled and in about 15 seconds I was outside snapping pictures in my pyjamas. That was ok for a couple of minutes before the chill set in and I also went inside.
And so the morning went. Brilliant sun burned off the early cloud, we had breakfast, snapping as giant bergs drifted by. We then bundled up: parkas, sweaters, toques, scarfs, gloves and off we went, walking laps on the deck. [Four laps is equal to one mile.] Every lap we seemed to be in a different spot so it was stop and go, stop and go. I guess we got a mile in, maybe.
We chatted with new acquaintances for some time and then it was lunch, more talk at lunch. I needed a nap, I am exhausted from the fresh air and constantly being alert for new photo opportunities. Fellette went to crafts, then returned for the 3:00 PM Antarctic Swim in the pool. About 20 hearty souls were there, mostly men. Great fun and the pool was heated even though they threw ice in it for show.
There was one talk on Antarctic geography before we got ready for dinner. We invited an Australian couple in for a pre-dinner drink and then down to the dining room.
Good day, long day[s].
Early morning view. Low cloud?
Another day of big bergs and some wildlife.
Penguins....
A big bergs everywhere.
Really big bergs!
They look quite comical.
A hearty Antarctic swim...
Guess who?
Happy as a seal.
At an abandoned Argentina Station, maintenance.
