Be Careful For What You Wish For...

Sunday February 2. Hot.

Today starts the beginning of three days at sea: days 8, 9 and 10.

Sea Day! It is great when there is little on the agenda and no need to be ready to go ashore at a designated time. We can have a lazy wakeup and a later more leisurely day. Great, lots of leisure time.

My biggest problem for the next three days is 'What to write about in the Blog!'

We have to sail 1200 miles across a body of water that I suspect not many could find on a map without a bit of close looking at names on that map. We are crossing The Bay of Bengal. The Bay is part of a bigger body of water known as The Indian Ocean. The Bay is 839,000 square miles, or 2,179,000 square kilometers.

The ocean bottom is littered with Japanese, German and Allied warships and freighters sunk by all sides during WW II. Because of its vast size it was not a desirable situation to be adrift in the Bay of Bengal after having your ship sunk. The heat here can be unbearable and the vastness made rescue iffy. And who will pick you up, Japanese, German, or Allies?

I remember reading stories when I was younger about some amazing survival stories taking place in the Bay of Bengal as it was busy place during the war particularly flying over the Bay between India and Burma and points east.

Sitting in the sun out here is only for Mad Dogs and Englishmen, of whom we have plenty. Some sun worshippers look like leather and I think are actually rather pleased with their appearance.

This morning after breakfast, Fellette went for a swim and I did some laps on the deck. I did one lap all the way around and then only paced the shady side as I finished my walk. I then took my book and hovered in the shade of a covered area while our room was made up.

One sea day is great, two is good after a couple of busy port days in a row, but three, I don't know, I just feel like I have not accomplished anything after three sea days. The most sea days we have had in a row is five or eight once, I believe. Some people seem to be able to be inactive for that length of time however many get a bit antsy. Particularly women shoppers.

I will just recap our first 30 days of the trip today seeing I was camera shy today. I will do better tomorrow, I promise!
