The Adventure of Touring on Your Own...

Wednesday February 5.

This preamble is written at 5:45 AM Wednesday morning as the ship is still some two or three hours away from Colombo, Sri Lanka [that island at the bottom of India.] It is dark out and Fellette is in bed reading, having forgotten to turn her clock back last night so she made coffee at 5:00 AM, thinking it was time to get up! I meanwhile am slowly adding stuff to my overnight bag that is already too heavy.

We are uncertain of the weather where we are going, the elevation, and the quality and conditions at the hotel where we will be spending the night. We are up to an adventure nevertheless, actually eagerly anticipating it! Let's see how the day unfolds shall we?. [Of course fully expecting to connect to to the internet tonight!]

Written at 9:00 PM, same day.

We were off the ship around 8:30 and eventually found our driver. At this writing it is 9:00 PM and we are in a very nice hotel, just finished a gruelling day and a great meal and need to get to bed.

My efforts to hook this computer up to the internet have failed miserably so I am doing this by email, somehow! Personal hot spot.

It was a busy day, great day, nice weather, car and driver. We had a little incident that put a bit of a bump in the road at the elephant bathing site. The roadway, side walk and stairs are terribly uneven and unsafe and Jim had a bad tumble. He was attended to in jig time of course. He is pretty banged up on his legs and wrists but fortunately nothing broken. I will have more to report on Jim and our day when we get back to the ship tomorrow.

I need to get to bed as we have an early long day tomorrow...

Sorry for a choppy blog.

A great way to end the day...

Ouch!
