Saturday, January 16. Started nicely, choppier as the day progressed. Overcast mostly.
Absolutely nothing of significance happened on the ship today. Another good day with low activity due to rolly-polly conditions, so getting about was again a bit awkward.
Possibly I can update you on our build project, otherwise known as 'The Fort Langley Stimulus Programme'.
The roof is going on at an acceptable rate, albeit slowly from a novice's point of view. We are quite pleased by the appearance even though our views are limited to Wally's cell phone pictures as of yet. Reports from The Stimulus Front indicate that as they move across the roof, the interior dries out quite quickly. The total roofing job will take about three weeks we were told and that appears to be pretty close to what it will take. So far they have been at it for a little over a week.
The doors and windows installation is almost complete and 'back-framing', which is merely the remaining odds and ends of framing is being done as well. The plumbers cannot really get down to it until either the wet weather abates or the roof is on.
The foundation for the shed at the back has been back filled and as far as I know possibly some framing started there as well.
The temporary construction access road to the shed from the front of the property was cut across the pipeline very nicely so that is another milestone finally completed.
Other than that, things are very quiet and uneventful.
Back to the ship a minute...
We met a Welsh couple on embarkation day, 7 days ago, neither had been on a ship before and they were booked for the whole cruise, about 100 days. We met her again yesterday morning. She has not had a decent sleep since we sailed, her eyes were heavy but just cannot sleep with the ship moving about as it has been. We ourselves have not had such a long stretch of iffy weather on a ship in all our days of sailing, it is not bad weather, it is just that there is no stretch at all of good weather. We live in hope.
Meanwhile many are catching up on reading. What few laps we have had around the deck outside have been a great treat. Soon we will be in the land of flying fish.
