Tuesday January 7. Not sure on the weather. Can't decide if it's hot, cold, breezy or what.
We were up at 4:00 AM to make sure we don't miss the 4:30 wake-up call!!!
We were up and going, had coffee, cleaned up and packed and in the lobby at 5:00 for the ride to the airport. Things went slick and we were in the lounge with another coffee by 6:00. The flight was at 8:50. We boarded and turned our clocks back two hours to Melbourne time. Had a glass of champagne then a coffee and a continental breakfast and cuddled down for a lovely 3 1/2 hour flight over the Tasman Sea to Melbourne.
Next thing we were in the hotel, got sorted out, somewhat, hooked up and then realized that I had no way of phoning or messaging Keith. Apparently they do not print phone books in Australia, or the hotel did not have one, so I e-mail Keith. Eventually we got connected.
Keith and Jenny drove the few Ks to the hotel and picked us up. We went to their house and had tea for a few hours and then we went to a Chinese Restaurant and had a meal and more catch-ups. Keith and Jenny drove us to the hotel where we had a chance to collect our breath. What a day for me/us.
Jenny is looking great, as usual, and is learning to live with fibromyalgia. Keith is also living with a dialysis issue that he undergoes each night. Gutsy folks.
We will get together tomorrow and spend the better part of the day before we say goodbye until the next visit. This was the seventh time we have seen each other since 1960.
Great day.
In the Auckland Airport bright and early.
The view for a while this morning.
Champagne then more coffee.
This is where Keith feels comfortable, surrounded by books by his favourite authors.
Married for 56 years. [I think!]
We think we are the same people as we were 50 odd years ago. In our mind at least!
All still smiling.
