A Sea Day: Ghana Coming Up In Two Days...

Wednesday, March 22. Smooth seas. High overcast. 27 C. Day 78. Now on Greenwich Time. Eight hours ahead of West Coast Time.

A bit of an update:

Things have been a bit rocky for me, personally, for three days, this being the third day. I contracted Norovirus. Norovirus is a Gastro-Intestinal [G-I] bug. It usually lasts a day, or two. There was nothing particularly frightening about it from my experience, I was just grateful to have a clean private toilet available. The frequency of using the toilet, for me, was not frequent, you just need it PDQ. The ship jumped on the issue pretty quickly and kept track of me via phone and one nurse visit.

So, when I reported my issue I was ‘quarantined’ in my room. Fellette was fine and she was free to go about her business. That means, to me, that it is spread by hands that are unclean: somewhere along the line.

I was officially released or un-quarantined around 2:30 this afternoon. It was like being released from prison, psychologically. Just a mental thing I suppose. We attended an informal Canada get together before dinner tonight. We met a few Canadians but spent the bulk of the time with a French Canadian from Montreal who was an absolute delight to talk to. Then, a great dinner with our table mates: Jim, Gail and the two Sisters. Good to be back after three days absent.

I have always been fully aware about my hands when eating, I cannot control the hands of anybody who was involved in the preparation of any foods that I eat, unfortunately. Or, the utensils that someone might have used before me. I am abnormally fastidious of this issue, that is why I think I got it from the food I ate, not from my personal hygiene habits. I will not handle any persons cel phone and then eat with that hand. Cel phones are filthy, even mine!

That is the end of that, sorry to be so frank.

Today, the small blankets that Fellette and obviously many, many other ladies have been crocheting furiously for several weeks were on display. It was an amazing sight to see. Staggering would be a better term to use.

Any self-serve at the buffet has been completely suspended due to Norovirus. That sure eliminates the issue of contaminated passenger hands using common serving pieces, there are none as they were taken away!!!

Fellette handed her third blanket in this morning.

Below, without comment, are some of the over 450 blankets crocheted by busy ladies using over a million yards of yarn the last several weeks.

A rather worthwhile and highly successful project I would say! Humbling to see the display that took up half of the topside pool deck this morning.

A Good Day...
