Wednesday, March 1. Blue Sky, Gentle Sea. 26 C. Mauritious Tomorrow on Day 57.
Not much happening that has not happened for the past six days!
Last night’s dinner was an interesting affair. We and 24 other guests were invited to dine in the Pinnacle Dining room, it is a very tony place with a bit of over-servicing, which is fine once in a while. The food is excellent, maybe the atmosphere makes it taste a bit better, who knows? It was put on by Cruise Specialists, whose agents around North America have over 200 guests on this ship. As you can figure out it will take a few months to get all of their customers in for a dinner before the cruise ends.
I was seated next to a lovely lady called Kristen, who is one of three people on the cruise from Cruise Experts. [Her and her male partner live in White Rock, BC, where my sister Moe lives full time and brother Graham lives part time.] Small world. Every detail was nicely taken care of, down to name cards for each guest. I asked Kristen who decided who sits where? Her answer was 'Seattle’, the head office of Holland America [in North America I assume]. A well done affair, planned to the last detail.
Fellette and I took in a question and answer session on upcoming ports this morning and I took in a talk by the Chief Engineer on all things to do with the engine room. I have been looking forward to this talk since I met him a month ago and he mentioned he was preparing this presentation. He is Dutch, with a heavy accent and a wicked sense of humour. Interestingly, he got a telephone call while on the stage doing his presentation. The Engine Room was reporting that the incoming sea water used to cool the engines had risen to the point that it needed to be corrected. If I recalled his comments on that the ocean water temperature was over 30 C[?].
Fellette had her hair cut this afternoon, while I was at the Engineer’s Talk, and tomorrow morning early she is having a pedicure, first ever.
I also have made an appointment with the ship’s doctor to take a look at the middle toe on my left foot. Something is not right with that tootsie. No big deal though.
Easy Day…
Fellette’s new shorter haircut.
