Thursday, April 6. Docked in Casablanca, Morocco. 24 C, pleasant, light high cloud or mist cover. 35 days to home Moe.
We Four took the shuttle to the UN Centre and then cabbed to a Souk where we once again browsed in a quiet way for a couple of hours. The Cutler’s out-shopped the Robins today! With great difficulty we located a restaurant that was open and served us. Morocco is a Muslim Country and we are in the middle of Ramadan where the muslims fast during the day and do not eat until after 7:00 pm I think it is.
By the way, the last several years there has been many bad things done in this world by Muslim Extremists. However we have found that Muslims are just people, like Catholics, Jews, Buddhas, Hindus, Christians, Saudis, etc. Our experience has been that Muslims are a pleasant, family-oriented people and less likely to be dishonest than many, many other ethnic groups throughout the world.
It was a very pleasant day today, once we got rid of the taxi drivers who swarmed us like a herd of locust when we got off the shuttle bus. The bus deposited us in a square, the taxi drivers knew a busload of rich foreigners would be dropped in their laps every 30 minutes. Like lambs to the slaughter. A firm voice usually gets them away from you for a few minutes at least. Or that is how I get rid of them. They are polite though.
Finally, with great difficulty we found an open restaurant where we had Moroccan food, and too much of it before making our way back to the ship to relax and unwind.
A Good Day…
Ready for a walking trip in Casablanca.
Find Fellette.
Endless sameness in many cases.
You can buy a preserved snake skin or animal skins here but we cannot or would not buy any endangered species as they have for sale here. They are likely illegal here as well. That hanging slab is a huge snake skin, unless they have brown crocodiles here!
The winding trail to find a restaurant open. We were told the was one near that tower.
Need some brass?
Coffee for me, strawberry juice for Fellette, a bit of a chance but no side effects, yet!
