Thursday, April 13. At sea crossing the Bay of Biscay. 11 C. Very rough seas. Day 100, 28 to go.
The Captain says that they ran the current weather conditions through a simulator and determined that the crossing of the bay of Biscay would have to be done at a slower speed that would make the ship too uncomfortable and too long for the comfort of the passengers. It was apparently not a popular decision with many passengers, however, ‘It’s good to be a Captain' and that is the end of that discussion! As it is, at a higher and more comfortable and shorter crossing, some doors are blocked and it is dangerous to walk around the ship.
So, we had an easy day, slept in, had a decent breakfast and took in two talks. One on upcoming ports and one on Indian Street Magicians. Both were not brilliant but that is what is available. I went to the gym in the afternoon, the pool is closed because of rather violent sloshing, so Fellette read!
Tonight is a Formal Night, maybe one or two yet to come. We still have 16 Ports to visit in 28 days. It is a bit unfortunate that we are ending the cruise in chilly climates but it will acclimatize us to temperatures at home. The cruise seems to be coming to an end in a manner that I was not fully expecting: in chilly climes with a rushed schedule. Of course we knew when looking at the itinerary close to two years ago that “Europe was a busy time” but it looked so far off, now it is upon us!
Easy Day...
