Lisbon, Portugal...

Monday, April 10. Blue Sky. 11 C in am. Warmed up  to 22 C.  Day 97, 31 to go.

Early to bed last night as we were both drained. A good sleep and a beautiful sail in to this lovely harbour. We went up top to the Crow’s Nest where the seating is so comfortable you will likely nod off. We enjoyed that for a while then went out on the open deck to catch some more shots then back down to the warmth of the cabin.

Not sure what we will end up doing but it will not be anything that involves much walking as my feet have to survive another three weeks that include 15 Ports, then they get a bit of a break.

Jim and Gail popped over to our cabin while we waited for the ship to be cleared. When it was cleared we walked off with a broad plan to walk a short distance along the waterfront and then dig into the city a bit and see what develops. What developed was my damn foot acted up and I told then to carry on and we would go on our own.

First we found a spot to check out the reason for the foot pain. We did and found nothing out of order. My frustration was building and to make a long story short we ended up going back to ship and try and salvage the day. I am not worried about Lisbon, we have seen enough of it previously, I am concerned about the next three weeks or so!

After a Cappuccino in the Neptune and a light lunch in the Lido, our cabin and balcony looked pretty darn good. There we spent the next few hours in the cabin and on the deck. Just fine.

Disappointing, But We Muddled Through OK...

Guess who?

Monument to various Navigators who have sailed from here. A new one: built in 1960!

The Belem Tower. Started in 1514, not a fortress but the formal entrance and departure facility at Lisbon, by ship.

Wonderful Spring weather here, cooling as we go North.

This is one very old city. Four centuries older than Rome, 2700 years ago. Because of its harbour and geographical location.

View from the back of the ship.
