Tangier, Morocco...

Good Friday, April 7. Docked in Tangier. 23 C. A bit windy in the harbour area. Day 94, 34 to go.

We Four walked off around 10:00 and took the shuttle into an older part of the city. Easy and pleasant strolling in a bit of a maze of streets with interesting shops with a great deal of variety in their offerings, mostly for domestic consumers

We strolled through a small local Souk of produce, vegetables, fruits, meats, chicken and lastly seafoods, all not vast but nice to see it on a smaller scale.

Fellette took a dress shoe in that had a sole flapping at the toe. We got that fixed while we waited. The shoe maker did not speak a word of English. Communicating the price was impossible and we had no Moroccan money at all and only Euro bills and he did not wants US dollars, the smallest Euro I had was a five Euro note so I gave it to him. He was vastly overpaid. A fun experience and Fellette is delighted to have that shoe fixed for the duration and the man was happy as a clam.

We then located a Restaurant where we could get recharged. A quarter chicken with chips, eggplant and cold rice with a Fanta, each: U$12.00, total. The ship beckoned and soon we were in what we call home, and peace and quiet. My feet took a bit of a beating on some ancient cobblestones and uneven footing.  A pain pill helps.

This is the very last Port Africa. Tonight we move our clocks forward two hours: the first time we have experienced that. Early to bed tonight for sure. Tomorrow is Malaga Spain, then Cadiz, then Lisbon our only port in Portugal, then finally we get a sea day after five port days in a row. [Fun, but tiring.]

I was in this port 63 years ago when trekking around Europe and touched in Northern Morocco. Also Malaga which I would like to wander at leisure for a short time tomorrow on my sentimental day there.

A Good Day…

Interesting and beautiful doorways, usually entrance to a residential compound.

A little shop like this can be a lifetime source of income for the owner.

Hardware.

Another.

Another.

Easy to get lost in here.

Fresh meat, not too many flies.

Finding a place to eat during Ramadan is difficult, at noon.

Cool painting I thought.

Fellette’s repaired shoe.
